Marketing for outdoor businesses

Outdoor customers want to know how gear performs, what a trip includes, and whether an event is worth the drive. Build your marketing around those decisions, from the first search to the booking or sale.

Show the product or experience in context

A product page can demonstrate size, compatibility, and use with original footage. A guide or outfitter page can explain the experience, equipment, typical schedule, and what a customer needs to bring. For events, put the schedule, location, cost, and sign-up process together where people can find them.

Plan around seasons, launches, and lead times

Work backward from when a customer needs to make a decision. Give a seasonal page time to be found, use email to share availability or launch details, and plan short edits around actual footage you can capture. Keep evergreen guides and product pages current between promotions.

Examples from outdoor projects

US Fish & Water organizes fishing information through a national hub and separate state sites. REIGN Fishing brings event information, registration, and a merch shop together. Both are examples of how to organize outdoor content around what visitors came to do.
